Hi Landcarer’s
We are looking forward to the Teddy Bear’s picnic on Saturday at Lions Park!
I’ve got the gang together. I am bringing a special water bug friend with me who would be happy to pose for photos. He actually belongs in the water, but has agreed to join us on the day. He would love to hear about your teddy and would be happy to meet both of you.
I am sure that any one of my teddy’s would also be happy to pose as well. I am bringing Teddy, Albert and Monkey. Albert, or Alby as I affectionately call him has been around for a loooong time, so he might need to rest, but the others are up for some action! Monkey is disappointed that he couldn’t wear his speedos, but I told him I was happy for him to do some yabbying.
Teddy is keeping her handmade shorts and t-shirt – with lace insert (mind you) and is keen to meet other friends. I can’t wait to see who you bring!
I am excited to be talking to kids about water bugs and getting down and having a good look at the important little creatures that we have living in our waterways that provide heaps of special roles that most of us don’t even know about. These macro-invertebrates are animals without a backbone that can be seen without a microscope or magnifying glass. These include all sorts of lovely insects, crustaceans, mites, molluscs and worms!
We will see what we can identify and learn more about what our birds or fish may be eating and gain a greater understanding of why we need to look after our waterways.
Please make sure that you are wearing your hat, sunscreen and have plenty of water. It is looking like it will be a beautiful day by the water with a top of 25 degrees forecast.
The Teddy Bears Picnic will be held on Saturday, 19 October between 10am and 2pm at the Lions Park. There will also be some fantastic entertainment on the day. I hope to see you there.
I’ll be on or near the pontoon with the Central West Lachlan Landcare marquee to keep us cool while we check out our little waterbugs. Looking forward to seeing you there!
