Looking At Landcare (20/8/2021) – Fortunate run for Landcare Events

Hi Landcarers

I guess in the big scheme of things, we should be pretty grateful that Central West Lachlan Landcare have had the opportunity to deliver so many wonderful events in 2021.

Unfortunately, we still hate to let go of events, but we just have to take the view of embracing the opportunity to make our events that were scheduled for the remainder of 2021, even bigger and better in 2022.

You would have read last week that the NSW Rural Women’s Gathering Forbes Committee made the decision to postpone our event scheduled for October 2021. The Committee have worked consistently since our proposal was submitted in March 2019 to host the event.

We are pleased to have the opportunity to run this event between 1 -4 April 2022. We, of course, put the safety of our communities first in making any decisions for events and are already planning towards this and other events in 2022….and beyond!

With that in mind, we have had to cancel our Mental Health First Aid course scheduled for 8 and 9 September. Even though this is disappointing, we now have the opportunity to seek funding for this training and we are hoping to incorporate this opportunity as part of a larger program that we are hoping to deliver.

Central West Lachlan Landcare are still planning for our Annual General Meeting which will be held online. We moved online for our 2020 AGM and are hoping to be able to deliver an interesting and informative AGM for members. Information will be available soon. If you don’t already receive our newsletter, head to our website and register. This will keep you up to date with what is happening.

Strategic planning is also an important part of our organisation to provide guidance in delivery of programs and projects. Unbelievably, we are also due to review our Strategic Plan. It is funning how strategic planning has changed so much over the years.

When I first started working planning was labour intensive, time consuming and cumbersome. One of the benefits of technology is the ability to make these processes so much simpler and targeted. CWLL are looking forward to undertaking this strategic planning process over the next couple of months. Just one of the opportunities that we will be taking during lockdown/covid restrictions.
