Central West Lachlan Landcare area pleased to announce that Costa Georgiadis will be joining us in May 2021!
Costa is a landscape architect, environmental educator and television presenter who has an all-consuming passion for plants and people. He knows how to bring out the best in each and takes great pleasure in bringing them together.
As co-creator and host of Costa’s Garden Odyssey for SBS, he caught the attention of a nation. Since 2013, Costa has continued his journey as the much-loved host of one of the ABC’s most iconic and Logie award-winning programs, Gardening Australia. His presenting work with Gardening Australia has been acknowledged with a Silver Logie.
In recent years, Costa has also joined with Dirtgirl in sharing environmental lessons in Get Grubby TV and Get Grubby The Musical, much to the delight of Australia’s pre-schoolers. He is also a popular guest in a range of television programs including Black Comedy, Have You Been Paying Attention?, Celebrity Name Game, Hughesy We Have A Problem and was recently featured in a dedicated episode of Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery.
Costa is also involved with regenerative agriculture and holistic practices that deal with the issues arising from a rapidly urbanising world. Through his workshops, lectures, keynotes, expos and other events, Costa is actively involved in delivering his message to the broader community. His work with pre-schools, primary and high schools, TAFE colleges and universities, industry groups and community organisations reflects his ability to convey his knowledge of a permanent self-sustaining culture to any audience.
2020 sees Costa continue with Gardening Australia and proudly support Junior Landcare in a national ambassadorial role.
During his time with us in Forbes, Costa will be presenting at Schools Eco Day. In 2021, we have the opportunity to expand Eco Day to make it accessible to all Year 5 students across Parkes and Forbes Shires. We are looking forward to welcoming presenters who have contributed to Eco Day over many years and some new presenters!
Eco Day is a fun, educational day, bringing together students to learn about the environment and encouraging them as our future leaders.
We are fortunate to also welcome Costa as Key Note Speaker for our dinner at Forbes Town Hall. We are thrilled to be using the Town Hall after the planned renovations are completed! Costa will be talking to us about building resilience and re-building gardens after the drought, Costa will be drawing on his wealth of experience and knowledge to provide some ideas for moving forward and improving our approach to gardening during drought.
To finish off Costa’s visit, he will be joining us at the Forbes Riverside Community Garden as part of their Open Day, with an opportunity for the community to be involved. The Garden Committee are excited to be once again hosting the Open Day, with a line up of activities and competitions to showcase this wonderful space.
