Looking At Landcare (26/1/2023) – Costa Launching Homegrown Parkes

Hi Landcarers

With the excitement growing around the upcoming Homegrown Parkes event on  24 and 25 March 2023 with Costa Georgiadis, this is your guide to how you can be involved!

Firstly, follow our Homegrown Parkes Facebook (@HomegrownParkes) and Instagram (Homegrown_Parkes) Pages. We will be sharing information through these pages and also through our Central West Lachlan Landcare Social Media @cwllandcare

For those of you who are keen to be involved in the Crop Swap (which is simply swapping your produce – processed or unprocessed) with others who have produce….or just giving it away), you can start propagating your own seedlings in the lead up to the event. You can also register your interest via the jotform and we will keep you informed in the lead up to the day.

Crop Swap registrations are here.

If you like the idea of locally grown markets, our market stalls will have heaps on offer. Supporting local keeps funds in our community, means that what we are purchasing produce that has not travelled hundreds of kilometres.

As part of events on the day, we will be running a bus to a local home to check out their veggie patch and we will be talking about successes and failures in the garden and encouraging families to get out into their garden patch, no matter how big or small and start growing.

Register for the bus trip here.

If you are just keen to head down and be in the thick of it all and meet Costa Georgiadis and enjoy the day, we would love to see you there.

Next week I look forward to sharing more details of the other activities that will be run on the day, including kids activities. Of course, food is a big part of this day, but we are encouraging anyone who is producing products locally to be involved. Market stallholders do require insurance.

Stallholder registrations are here.

Since 2013, Costa Georgiadis has continued his journey as the much-loved host of one of the ABC’s most iconic and Logie award-winning programs, Gardening Australia.

Costa is the host of Gardening Australia and proudly supports Junior Landcare in a national ambassadorial role. We are thrilled to welcome him back to Central West NSW.
