Looking At Landcare (30-7-2021) – National Tree Day Event at Forbes on Saturday!

Central West Lachlan Landcare, Forbes Shire Council and Planet Ark are encouraging Forbes Shire residents to be part of something big by connecting with nature and their community as part of National Tree Day 2021.

“National Tree Day is such a great opportunity for residents to do something for their local environment and experience the many benefits of spending time outdoors,” said Central West Lachlan Landcare Chairperson Margot Jolly.

“Over 25 million trees have been planted since 1996 as part of the program, and we are excited to support the goal of getting another million in the ground this year” said Margot.

This year’s Forbes National Tree Day event is taking place at Forbes Waste Depot, Forbes on Saturday 31 July from 10am – 1pm. Residents can register to volunteer at the event via the National Tree Day website. The link to the registration page is available via Landcare social media.

“This is such an important initiative for our community and our environment,” says Forbes Shire Mayor Phyllis Miller OAM.

“To come together and do great things for our environment and in particular for our new waste facility area will be something we all look back on in the years to come with great pride. I do hope you all put your hand up to help plant a tree or two.”

All public events will be held in accordance with local COVID-19 protocols to ensure the safety of National Tree Day participants across Australian communities.

National Tree Day is an initiative organised by Planet Ark in partnership with major sponsor Toyota Australia and its Dealer Network. For more information and to register, please go to planetark.org by clicking the flier below, or message Marg Applebee on 0418 611 053.
