It was a pleasure to have presenter Andrew Linnertson from Ananda Food as our Annual General Meeting Guest Speaker on Monday evening in Forbes.
We were thrilled with the turnout of locals to support our meeting and pleased to once again have a full compliment of Committee members.
We are pleased to welcome back Ben Kerin as Chairperson, Margot Jolly as Deputy Chair, Margaret Haddin as Treasurer, Maree Yapp as Public Officer and Michael Chambers is our Secretary. Our Committee members are Darrin Kopp and Jack Farthing, with a new member, Peter White. Our two Council representatives are Cr Barbara Newton from Parkes Shire Council and Cr Michele Herbert from Forbes Shire Council.
The Central West Lachlan Landcare Committee are a fantastic support and knowledge base for me as Coordinator and I value the voluntary contribution that each member makes.
We will be holding a planning morning in the month ahead, to lock in dates for 2020 and beyond. I can’t wait to share with you about our largest event that we are part of next year. All will be revealed in next week’s article!
If you have an event flagged for next year that we can be involved in, please let us know. We love to be contributing to our communities.
Our guest speaker Andrew Linnertson is the National Field Operations Manager for Ananda Food. He generously agreed to travel and speak at our meeting about hemp and hemp production. We also heard from Jack Farthing who grew hemp this year in the Forbes Shire.
Being the contact on the ground, Andrew knows all of the ins and outs of establishing a hemp crop, the timing that producers have to be aware of and, interestingly how responsive hemp is to day length etc. Ananda process and produce products like hemp seed oil, hemp protein powder, hemp flour, or just hemp seed that is a great source of fibre, protein and essential fatty acids.
Ananda are 100% Australian and they are one of the largest Australian-owned hemp seed producers in Australia.
AGM attendees were very fortunate to walk away with Ananda Products to try for themselves…I already know of one loaf of Hemp Sourdough that has been created!
This would be a fantastic, nutritious product to be supporting in our local supermarkets and specialty stores.
