My hair is now going to require some intensive conditioning treatment after the hard work that it has done this week! Is it worth it? Sure is!

I have met some lovely visitors this week from all over the Australia. If you are after a short, cool, quiet break from the Festival, pop out to Kelly Reserve on Friday and have a cuppa.

If you didn’t get a chance to check out Russell Morris at the plaque unveiling, go and listen to one of the links on social media. His performance blew me away. What an amazing talent….and his offsider for his afternoon performance, Peter Robinson….man, their guitar skills were fabulous!

Looking beyond the Elvis Festival, I will be back to the usual routine next week, working from Forbes Shire Council on Wednesday, so if you want to catch up, give me a bell or send me an email.

We are looking forward to delivering our normal commitments this year and also excited about some new projects that we are undertaking in 2019.

The Central West Local Land Services are holding two workshops in the Forbes area on Sheep Confinement Feeding/Feed-lotting in February.

Geoff Duddy from Sheep Solutions is working with CWLLS to deliver this workshop to assist producers to make practical, key decisions for livestock production improvement.

Geoff has over 30 years’ experience in all facets of sheep, wool and lamb production and his primary goal is to help producers to fine-tune breeding, feeding and finishing management practices to achieve cost effective and profitable outcomes.

Topics to be covered on the day include: preparing the ewe (and ram) for joining for winter/spring lambers; condition scoring/checking testis/teeth etc; scanning pro’s and con’s; managing the ewe flock post-scanning; and preparing the flock/pastures etc for lambing.

The first workshop is being held at the Forbes Inn on 7 February between 9am and 3pm. The second workshop will be held at ‘Glamis’, Bedgerabong, on 8 February, also between 9am and 3pm.
