Looking At Landcare 19/2/2016

Hi Landcarers

Central West Lachlan Landcare held their first meeting for the year at the Mid Lachlan Valley Rural Fire Service Headquarters.

We were fortunate to have Mike Fratturo, Community Safety Officer for the MLV RFS speak to us about the new Bushfire Survival Plan package. Followed up by dinner at Cafe Aglio E Olio. Thanks to everyone that attended. We had a lot to get through in s short space of time.

We have some very exciting opportunities ahead this year and can’t wait to share them with you!

We have decided to extend our survey to give plenty of time for your feedback. We have received some fantastic ideas and suggestions and would love to hear more! Just go to our website or facebook page and click the link.

We were sad to hear that long-term Landcarer Ron Hurley passed away this week. Ron had been a massive contributor to Forbes Urban Landcare and always willing to be involved in Landcare activities and he will be a huge loss to the Forbes and Landcare community.

Do you ever just want to get outside and plant a tree or do some weeding, but it’s just no fun doing it by yourself? Just once a month for a couple of hours contributing in random areas around your shire? I have the solution for you.

The Landcare Motley Crew. Yes, I include myself in that description! This is the chance to spend a couple of hours (that’s all) working on community projects and then joining for a cuppa and a catch up. We’ll even supply the cuppa.

I am in the process of lining up our first few adventures, so if you’d like to join us and make a difference, just email me at pdlsc@bigpond.com or ring me on 6862 4914. If you are unable to get down and digging, but wish you could, we are bound to need overseers and advisors on our projects!

The Parkes Field Day will be held on 11 March in the picturesque setting at the Parkes Racecourse. This is a chance for our communities to see local products and services on display, including tractors, cultivators, sprayers, motor cycles, commercial vehicles, farm suppliers and more.

There is a $450 open order gate prize up for grabs and free entry from 10am. To register your site or if you your group are interested in the opportunity to run the cafeteria on the day contact James Haddin at james@bosmac.com.au or on 6862 3699. We look forward to seeing you there.

Until next week, happy Landcaring!
