Hi Landcarers
Did you manage to get out and enjoy some of this warm weather over the school holidays? Hopefully that’s the last we see of the dry weather for a few days.
Central West Lachlan Landcare are holding their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, 18 October in Forbes.
The meeting will commence at 6pm in the Long Tan and Coral Sea Rooms at Forbes Services Club. Because we are working across both Parkes and Forbes Shires, we are keen to alternate AGM venues each year and ‘share the love around’.
Are you wondering what to expect? Of course, there are the normal AGM requirements, including election of Committee members, acceptance of reports and it is also a chance to renew your membership or start a new one. We will give a brief overview of the past financial year and have a look at our plans for the next 12 months.
The past 18 months have had a lot of focus on work with our Skillset Green Army Team and now that that project is drawing to completion at the end of October, we are looking at some new undertakings and we are keen to have feedback from the community on new projects that we could be pursuing in the years ahead.
The AGM is also a chance to acknowledge the support and partnerships that we have both from other organisations and individuals.
We are fortunate to have Guy Webb, from Soil C Quest as our guest speaker in the lead up to his presentation at the NSW Landcare and Local Land Services Conference in Albury the following week. If you haven’t heard Guy speak, or if you have heard him before and are keen to hear more, this is your chance.
RSVP is essential for our AGM so that we know how many to cater for, so please contact me at Landcare on 02 6862 4914 or email cwllpo@hotmail.com
On to other upcoming activities. The National Parks Association Lachlan Valley Branch are holding two walks this month. All walks are subject to there being no adverse RFS fire warnings at the time and no closure of the relevant area.
The first is to Nangar National Park this Sunday, 8 October. There is a slight change to the departure time and walkers will now meet at 9.45am at the Eugowra Rest Area. This is a medium 6 kilometre walk on the Glen Echo Trail. Please contact walk leader, Martin Bell on 0429 346 586 the evening before the walk.
On Sunday, 25 October there will be a walk in the Cookamidgera Valley. Walkers are to meet at 2499 Amaroo Way at 9am. This is a medium, 6 kilometre walk. Please contact walk leaders Graham and Liz McCraild on 0455 915 989 the evening before the walk.
Walkers are reminded to bring enough food and water for the entire day, as well as suitable clothing, footwear, hat and sunscreen. A pair of good binoculars and a fold up chair is recommended. Don’t worry, you don’t need to carry your chair. It might come in handy for a rest when you are finished. A $2 donation per walker is appreciated.
You may remember that I mentioned the information sessions that the Local Land Services are holding over NSW. There are still sessions coming up. The nearest sessions to are at Condobolin on 18 October and Bathurst on 1 November. Contact Jeff Boyd, 0409 735 097 for more information.
