Looking At Landcare (29/2/2024) – Sally Bourne Landscaping Workshop to Round Up Homegrown Parkes Event

We are thrilled to welcome Horticulturalist and Landscape Designer, Sally Bourne to Homegrown Parkes on Saturday, 16 March at 2pm.

Landcare recognise the importance of landscape design for all of the natural conditions that we face in regional NSW and are thrilled to welcome Sally as part of our People Led Prevention Project that focuses on providing opportunities for the community to be equipped for natural disasters and changes in climatic conditions.

Based in Central West NSW and with over 30 years of experience, Sally specialises in landscape advice and the preparation of landscape design plans for homeowners, local government, schools and community spaces.

Sally believes the way garden spaces evolve over time is fundamental to the success of a design. When it comes to Sally’s trademark style, think sustainable, rustic, earthy, achievable and family-friendly. Sally’s personal approach means you’ll get plenty of face-to-face consultation time for your space and her attention to detail produces documents you can rely on for the execution of your beautiful new outdoor space.

She creates gardens that are considerate of a natural environmental balance, self-supporting and reduce the need for inputs and outputs.

She places emphasis on the use of local and recycled materials, water saving options and working with a sites opportunities and constraints feature in these designs.

The plant species favour low maintenance, hardy and drought tolerant species, deciduous trees located to provide winter solar access and summer shade, with many species native, endemic and or locally suited.

Homegrown presentations kick off at 9am with a workshop brought together under the People Led Prevention Project, assisting our community with disaster preparedness ideas with contributions from the local emergency services.

We hope that as a result, workshop attendees will go away with new ideas and a plan for their own home and property that provides further security and peace of mind moving ahead.

The People Led Prevention project focuses on behaviour change for natural hazard risk reduction. We are so thrilled to be able to consolidate our emergency service providers into one space to provide information to the community, planning options and increase disaster resilience and community connectivity.

Bookings are essential for this workshop and are limited. Register via this link.
