Central West Lachlan Landcare are pleased to be providing a workshop free to the community through the People Led Prevention Project.
This workshop will be part of the line up for the Homegrown Parkes and will be held at 9am on Saturday, 16 March in Cooke Park Pavilion. We hope to have final details of our line of presenters available next week.
The Parkes SES are the first emergency service agency to put their hand up for the event. Not only will they be providing information on preparedness and recovery, but we are thrilled to have their new truck with at Homegrown Parkes for the kids….and those of you who like large machines with lights.
We are also thrilled to welcome Local Land Services to talk about preparedness for animals in emergency situations. Even myself, going through the planning for this project and event have questioned if I would be prepared with my animals, let alone all of the other things that we would have to be prepared for.
In addition, we look forward to welcoming other local emergency response providers who will be providing additional information to assist our communities.
We hope that as a result, workshop attendees will go away with new ideas and a plan for their own home and property that provides further security and peace of mind moving ahead.
Let us know you will be attending here.
As part of this project at Homegrown Parkes, I have some more exciting news to share next week for all of you who are looking for smart landscaping solutions moving forward. We also have two other fabulous demonstrations planned for Homegrown, but I don’t have room to include it all in this column!
The People Led Prevention project focuses on behaviour change for natural hazard risk reduction in the community at an individual, local and regional scale. We are so thrilled to be able to consolidate our emergency service providers into one space to provide information to the community, planning options and increase disaster resilience and community connectivity.
Our hope is that attendees come away from the workshops feeling more empowered with increased information to understand natural hazard risks and encourage proactive disaster planning and preparedness.
You know that Homegrown Parkes is all about creating more connected communities and that is why this project has worked in so perfectly with Homegrown Parkes.
