Homegrown Parkes is this Saturday!
We have 50 Stallholders and Food Vendors for Homegrown Parkes on 21 October 2023 between 9am and 2pm at Cooke Park.
Homegrown Parkes are supporting Pink Up Parkes in their fundraising and awareness raising efforts for the McGrath Foundation in support of our local Breast Care Nurse who covers Parkes Shire, Forbes Shire and Lachlan Shire….so join us and pink up!
Included in our Homegrown event is a third Crop Swap event, which is an opportunity for (you guessed it), swapping local produce and products.
We are fortunate to provide three demonstrations at this Spring Homegrown event. Presenters are Wendy Muffet of Girragirra Retreat at 10am, who will be talking about fermentation, Kath Whitchurch at 11am who will demonstrate sourdough process and Bill Tink at 12.30pm will show us how to create and maintain worm farms.
Alyssa Miller will be providing entertainment throughout the day. Parkes Shire Concert Band will be performing from 9.15am.
CanAssist will be providing delicious Devonshire Teas, plus other goodies from the Pavilion for when you need that break and a cup of tea or coffee.
30 stallholders will be selling goods ranging from dog treats, handmade goods, preserves, jams, garden art, plants, handmade tables, macrame, kodedamas, Spanish resources, sewing, pottery and ceramics, keyrings, earrings, honey, candles, art and heaps more!
Our food vendors include Cooke Park Café Coffee, 3rd Parkes Scouts BBQ & Bacon & Egg Rolls, Trang Le Vietnamese Street Food, Thorns Coffee & Pastries from the Sugar Mill, A Taste of Greece Greek Food, Mister Brisket Burgers and Gluten free Brisket Boxes, You Too Fancy Cupcakes & Good Food Folk, Two Litte Cookies Sugar Cookies, Parkes Public Donuts, Holy Family home baked goods, popcorn and hot dogs.
We are grateful to CMOC-NorthParkes, who through their Community Investment Program, have provided funds to assist in delivering free activities for children at our Homegrown Parkes event.
Our jumping castle will be managed by the Parkes Action Club. Face Painting and other activities for children will be available….including an Animal Nursery!
The Homegrown Parkes Committee, made up of members of Central West Lachlan Landcare, Parkes Community Arts and Parkes Shire Council contributors, are looking forward to delivering another fabulous event.
Make sure you bring your recyclable bags and perhaps a cooler bag, wear a hat and sunscreen and bring your cash/card.
